Key Stage 2 workshops

We offer a wide range of workshops for schools. You can build a day to suit your needs by choosing a combination of 1 hour, 2 hour or 4 hour workshops, perhaps adding a self-guided visit to the galleries too. Or have us come to you to deliver a classroom workshop.

Our workshops focus on historical, geographical and scientific themes, but include elements of maths, literacy and citizenship too.

Evidence in Action

Learn how archaeologists find out about the past and make sense of ancient artefacts.

Tudor Rich and Tudor Poor

Let our Tudor guide teach you about life in the Tudor period, including a run down of who was who at the Tudor Court.

2 hour workshops 

Iron Age

Find out about life in Iron Age Britain, what did people eat, what did they believe, how did they live. This workshop can take place at your school or at Poole Museum. It can also be combined with the Stone Age workshop for a full day option.

Mapping Skills

Learn map and compass reading skills and navigate the landscape.

Minibeasts

Find out about bugs and insect life at Upton Country Park.

Outdoor Art

Make giant 3D artwork using natural materials. Find out about artists who work in this way.

Romans

Learn about life in Roman Britain. Available as a 2 hour or 4 hour option.   

Saxons

Find out about Saxon life, society and religion.

Stone Age

Learn about Stone Age Britain; why do we call it the Stone Age, what did people eat. have a go at flint knapping and hunting magic! This workshop can take place at your school or at Poole Museum. It can also be combined with the Stone Age workshop for a full day option.

Team Building

Have a go at a range of outdoor challenges designed to encourage communication, co-operation and problem solving.

Tudor Trading

Learn about Tudor trade, food and dancing in the atmospheric setting of Scaplen's Court.

Vikings

The Vikings are coming! Find out about Viking's in Dorset.

Who Eats What

Find out more about the animals at Upton Country Park, their habitats and their food.

World War II Experience

Take on the role of evacuees and find out about life in wartime Poole. Four hour option available.
