Poole Museum, Scaplen's Court Museum, and Poole History Centre are all situated very close together at the top of the High Street just off The Quay.

Buses - Route One links the town's car parks, bus and rail stations with Poole Museum. It operates up to every 15 minutes Mondays to Saturdays and there is a bus stop immediately outside the Museum.

Bicycles - we have parking for bicycles and many cycle friendly routes in Poole

Shop - The Museum shop stocks a range of books, cards, gifts and souvenirs for all ages.

Cafe - We're sorry that our museum cafe is closed. It will reopen under the new management of Upton Country Park Tearooms Rooms on 18 October.

Toilets - We have unisex toilets in individual cubicles located on Floor 3. One has baby change facilities. We offer paper towels for hand drying rather than driers.

Poole Trail - Use our free WiFi to unlock the Museum's secrets.

We aim to make Poole Museum as accessible as we can for everyone. We have staff on the Reception desk and throughout the Museum who are happy to help you. Just ask if you need any information or assistance.

The Museum has lift access to all floors, the lift announces each floor level.

Wheelchair access

Our entrance is accessible and we welcome wheelchairs and mobility scooters in the galleries.

We also have manual wheelchair for visitors to use (subject to availability); please ask at Reception when you arrive.

We have seating throughout the galleries, including some chairs with arms.

Disabled parking

The Museum does not have its own dedicated parking. There are limited disabled spaces down the lower High Street and on Poole Quay. The nearest car park with disabled spaces is the Quay Visitors car park.

Assistance dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome and we can provide drinking water if needed.  Please ask at Reception.

Partially sighted visitors

We have large print copies of all our labels by the entrance to each of our galleries. You can also ask for these at Reception on arrival.

Hearing impaired visitors

There is an induction loop at the Reception desk and by many of the AV points around the Museum.

Accessible toilets

There is an accessible toilet on Floor 3.

Museum experience

The Reception area can be very busy during school holidays, especially if groups are booked in. If you would like an idea of how busy we might be, please call ahead.

We occasionally play background music in temporary exhibitions and some exhibits have background sounds.

The Museum is in a historic building with low ceilings and divided by low beams (padded). The galleries are lit by spot lights which creates a number of shadows.

Families with children

We run a full programme of activities for children of all ages and their families. See our what's on guide to find out more.

Unfortunately we don't have space for a buggy park, but you are welcome to take your buggy around with you. We have lift access and wide spaces between our displays.

Baby changing facilities are available on Floor 3.
